What does it mean
to be a seeker?

How can I
know God?

Sermon Notes

"Wonders and Words"
In Healing or Suffering - How is God best glorified?

Sermon Three of Four
June 15, 2008 - Pastor Dave Scherrer

Acts 9:15, 16 - But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake."

2 Corinthians 12:7-10 - So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Philippians 4:10-13 - But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

The basics of Biblical healing

  1. There is no formula for healing; the only certainties are faith and God.
  2. Not for self-exaltation but for the sake of love
  3. The gift of healing is not the ability to heal at will
  4. Healing is rightly to be sought
  5. Healing and suffering can be very much the same
But healing is real and it is for your entire person
The Word of Jesus
The Blood of Jesus
The Name of Jesus

Wonders and words - Are you ready for your faith to be expanded?

Mark 5:36, "Do not fear, only believe."
