What you do at 4Cs:
I am the Associate Pastor. In that role, I wear four hats: Assist the Sr.Pastor, oversee the business of the church (the traditional Executive Pastor role), oversee the adult ministries, and champion the cradle-to-grave spiritual formation of the staff and congregation.

Life History
I was born in Alabama but grew up in Michigan. After High School, I enlisted in the Air Force. Since then, I have lived in seven different states. I’ve been married for over 20 years to a lovely woman, Linda, who in that wonderful, mysterious way has become half of me. We have a son, Mark, married to Rose, and a grandson, Tyler, all living locally.

I have a BS in Aerospace Engineering and an MA in Christian Apologetics. I spent 30 years in aviation as a helicopter mechanic, flight test engineer, flight instructor, and airline pilot. I did engineering work on the then top secret stealth bomber. I am licensed to fly the Boeing 747, 757, 767, 777, Douglas DC-8, Airbus A320, and Embraer 120. I was on a small task force formed by the FAA to write the first federal law governing the use of flight simulators in pilot training.

As a Christian in the job in aviation, I was in full-time ministry in my corporate environment. Now, God has moved me to this position in paid ministry.

What you enjoy doing on your day off:
Hanging with my wife and grandson, reading philosophy and theology, playing golf.

List one of your most interesting memories/experiences:
My wife and I continue to have opportunities to live for weeks at a time in a small, orphaned children’s home in a village northwest of Nairobi, Kenya. Experiencing Christ through the eyes of our Kenyan hosts is transforming.

What is something that not many people know about you:
I have weighed over 800 lbs on a number of occasions, but each time I lost the weight in a matter of seconds.
